This weekend in Poland, one of the biggest events on the European auto show calendar takes place. Ultrace needs no introduction; we’ve covered the event extensively in recent years and for 2024, we’ll have three Speedhunters on the ground in Wrocław to capture the very best of the spectacle.
Although Ultrace’s roots go back to 2010, our first look came five years ago when it was still known as Raceism. Questionable name aside, Vladimir‘s coverage of the 2019 show was an early taste of what has become one of our favourite events – and yours too, given how popular our Ultrace reports always are. With that in mind, for this week’s throwback post we look back at our main show coverage from Raceism 2019…
2019 Feature
Despite what the name might suggest at first glance, racism is not about hate. On the contrary, this big stand-up event in Poland brings together people who are passionate about car culture, from all different backgrounds.
Every year, car owners from countries like Great Britain and Central Russia gather at Raceism to compete for prizes and introduce new trends to the world of stance.
The goal for many is to win the coveted title of ‘Best of Show’, but when there are 1,000 cars at the event, just getting noticed by the judges and finishing in the Top 16 is quite an achievement.
The unique character of the event has gained recognition among people and companies that determine the speed of development of the European tuning scene. The uncompromising focus on quality has resulted in perhaps the most prestigious stance event in the world.
Adrian Kapica, CEO of Raceism, organized the first event in 2010 when stance was not popular at all in Poland. About 15 cars showed up for the gathering, a big difference from what is now a enormous event.
If there’s one thing I learned from the 2019 event, it’s that wide-body kits and wide fenders are still the most popular modifications for owners, and have been for years.
Another trend I saw in this scene was DTM style, motorsport inspired upgrades like roll cages and splitters. What’s under the hood only matters to a few people.
On the contrary, the livery trend seems to be over, as there were only a few cars that had them at this event. The clean look is back in fashion, or maybe it never went away?
