Xiaomi is reportedly working on a button-less smartphone that it will launch in the first half of next year. It is apparently codenamed Zhuque, and its most striking feature will of course be the complete lack of buttons.

Unfortunately, the source of this information doesn’t know what will actually replace the buttons. So it could be a combination of gesture controls, pressure-sensitive edges, or voice commands.

The phone will also have an under-display selfie camera, which will hopefully be better than Samsung’s efforts in this area. Powering the Zhuge will be the upcoming Snapdragon 8+ Gen 4 SoC, which will also be used in the Xiaomi 15S Pro, a device expected to launch between April and June 2025.

It appears that the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 4 will be an improved version of the 8 Gen 4, which is due out in October.

As for the Zhuque, we’ll have to wait and see if it’s a success or more of a niche demo product like the Meizu Zero. Remember the Meizu Zero? Exactly.
