Xiaomi 15 Pro gets Snapdragon 8 Elite, 5x periscope and sturdy battery

is the bigger sibling of the Xiaomi-15 and one of the first phones to launch with the recently announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Aside from packing Qualcomm’s best mobile SoC, the 15 Pro offers some meaningful improvements over its predecessor predecessorincluding a brighter screen, overhauled cameras and a massive 6,100mAh battery.

While the screen still measures 6.73 inches, the 15 Pro’s LTPO OLED panel has slimmer bezels around the screen and a micro-curved design with subtle curves on all four corners.

Thanks to the new M9 luminous material, the screen now has a peak brightness of 3,200 nits. It still features a 1,440 x 3,200 px resolution and a 1-120 Hz refresh rate, and you also get a built-in ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. Xiaomi has also added Dragon Crystal Glass 2.0 protection to help prevent scratches.

On the back, Xiaomi offers an overhauled triple camera setup with Leica-branded cameras and a new AISP 2.0 computational photography system.

The 50 MP main camera uses an OmniVision Light Fusion 900 sensor (same as the Xiaomi 14) – a 1/1.31″ sensor with an equivalent focal length of 23mm. It is paired with a new 50 MP periscope (IMX858 ) with 5x optical zoom, which also doubles as a telephoto macro lens. The third shooter is a 50MP ultra-wide unit with an equivalent focal length of 14mm.

Xiaomi increases the battery capacity to 6,100 mAh with support for 90W wired and 50W wireless charging. The phone also boots Android 15 with Xiaomi’s brand new HyperOS 2 on top.

Xiaomi 15 Pro comes in gray, white and green colors, as well as a premium Rock Silver version, which has a 3D water ripple effect.

Prices start at CNY5,299 ($742) for the 12/256GB trim and lasts up to CNY5,799 ($812) for the 16/512GB version. The top model with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB is CNY6,499 ($910).

Shipping to China is expected to begin on October 31st. Xiaomi has not yet announced any details about a global launch.
