Chinese smartphone makers love to create sub-brands to cater to different parts of the market – think Redmi, Poco, iQOO, Realme. En vivo is apparently working on its next sub-brand after iQOO.

The brand will be called Jovi, and if that sounds familiar, that’s because vivo is using the name for its AI assistant and some other system apps. But now it seems like Jovi is all set to grow up and become his own smartphone brand.

vivo will launch a new sub-brand next year

The information comes from data from the GSMA database (that is the GSM Association, but not related to us). These show three upcoming vivo devices that will use the Jovi brand.

So we have the Jovi V50 with the model number V2427, the Jovi V50 Lite 5G with the model number V2440 and the Jovi Y39 5G with the model number V2444.

The Jovi V50 and the upcoming ones are interesting vivoV50 share the same model number, just like the Jovi V50 Lite 5G and the vivo V50 Lite 5G. So it looks like Jovi will make its debut with simple rebranding of existing devices. We bet these will only be offered under the Jovi name in some markets.

All this said, keep in mind that plans can change and nothing is really official until there is an announcement, even though the GSMA database is usually very reliable. However, vivo may change its mind about launching the Jovi brand for phones as it hasn’t unveiled one yet.
