The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra’s battery capacity may disappoint

The battery capacity for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has leaked today, and that’s not good news if you’ve been optimistic and hoping for an increase compared to the S24 Ultra‘S.

According to prolific leaker Ice Universe, the S25 Ultra’s battery will be exactly the same as the S24 Ultra’s at 5,000mAh. What’s more, even the max charging capacity will remain unchanged at 45W.

While rumors are swirling that the S25 Ultra will be a quite significant redesignit seems like some things on the inside will stay exactly the same. what do you think of this move?

We’ll put it this way — some of Samsung’s Chinese rivals have slowly started equipping their flagships with bigger batteries, and rumor has it that the next series from China, due out later this year and early next year, will push even further — around 6,000mAh, to be precise. So with that in mind, when the S25 Ultra comes out in January, it might be looking a little underpowered, battery capacity-wise.

Finally, let’s add some context: the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC that should power most Android flagships in 2025 has long been rumored to be quite power-hungry. So the aforementioned Chinese companies packing bigger cells into their devices could very well be a direct result of that.

But if this rumor comes to fruition, Samsung will have pulled off the whole “one step forward, two steps back” dance, making the S25 Ultra less dangerous for the palm of your hand by rounding off the corners, but also potentially making the battery life worse than its main Android competitors.
