Apple is preparing to launch the iPhone SE in early 2025, another source claims. The rumors come just days after Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman revealed the time frame, but the new information added more details about specs and features.
This is what sources spoke to say 9to5Macthe fourth iPhone SE will have a modern look on the front, similar to a iPhone 14 with the notch and FaceID. It will also have an Apple A18 chipset and borrow some cameras from last year iPhone 15.
The current one iPhone SElaunched in 2022, is in fact a iPhone 8 with a newer chipset, but the iPhone SE (2025) will be the first affordable Apple phone with 5G connectivity thanks to the new chip.
The front will feature a 6.1-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 2,531 x 1,170 px, while the sides will be flat. As Touch ID disappears, Face ID remains the only biometric authentication feature.
The 3D face scanning solution will have a 12MP selfie shooter to keep it company in the notch. The back will only house one camera, just like on the previous iPhone SE, but it will be the 48MP main camera from the iPhone 15.
Bringing the Apple A18 chip means that the iPhone SE (2025) should get Apple Intelligence. Hopefully the devices will get the AI features right out of the box, unlike the iPhone 16 series which is still waiting for their software upgrade. And if you’re in the EU and China, they won’t be rolled out in the near future.
Apple launched the iPhone SE (2022) for $429, but the 2025 version is expected to start from $459 or $499.
