The Honor Magic V3 is already available in China and will come to Europe early next month at the IFA expo. Not only is it the thinnest foldable phone on the market, but Honor also claims it is one of the most durable. The Honor company has subjected its smartphone to a number of torture tests to prove its robustness – a hydraulic press machine and a washing machine.
Normally, an extremely thin and light smartphone comes at the expense of durability, but with the Magic V3 that seems to be different.
Under the hydraulic press machine, the V3’s hinge withstood 1,150 kg of pressure, even beating a granite rock. This is mainly due to Honor’s self-developed Super Steel.
In addition, the V3 uses a special fiber that is stronger than Kevlar and standard carbon fiber, while the inner screen uses an impact-resistant silicone gel material. Upon impact, it solidifies and protects the screen. On the other hand, the outer screen is protected by an anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield with 50% higher crystal density than standard displays.
Last but not least, the handset is IPX8 certified and can be submerged in water up to 2.5 meters without consequences. The washing machine test is proof of that.
Honor’s most advanced foldable phone yet makes its debut on September 5 at IFA 2024 in Berlin. But while you wait, know that we were given a unit to run our own durability test, and it passed with flying colors. Stay tuned to our homepage to see how we fared and whether Honor’s claims are accurate!
