Tecno later introduced an LTE-only smartphone called Pop 9 in August relaunched as Spark Go 1. It was then launched in Africa with a Unisoc T615 chip, and today it made its way to USA with yet another SoC: Helio G50 from Mediatek. This Tecno Pop 9 remains an entry-level model, as evidenced by its sub-$80 price tag.
Tecno hasn’t shared the full specs of the phone and we can only assume it will have the same 6.67-inch LCD display with HD+ resolution as its African namesake.
The front has a ‘dynamic’ hole for the 8 MP camera, which is a nod to Apple’s Dynamic Island. Tecno implemented the feature by placing some animations and notifications around the shooter.
The camera island design on the back is again a nod to Apple and its iPhone 15, but here Tecno Pop 9 has just one snapper with a 13 MP sensor and PDAF.
Other “unlimited” features that Tecno has implemented include a 5,000mAh battery, 3GB of RAM that can be doubled via the Memory Fusion feature in Settings, and an IR blaster that can act as a universal remote.
Tecno Pop 9 4G comes with 64GB of storage and users can choose from three colors: Glittery White, Lime Green or Startrail Black. The phone will go on sale via Amazon USA on November 26 with a price tag of INR 6,699 (almost $80).
