Sony is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the PlayStation brand this year and is commemorating this with a limited edition of consoles and accessories.
This limited edition includes the digital version of the PlayStation 5, the new PlayStation 5 Pro, the DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers, and the PlayStation Portal.
PlayStation 5 Pro Limited Edition Bundle
All of these devices feature a gray color scheme reminiscent of the original PlayStation model that launched on December 3, 1994. The consoles have lighter gray exterior panels and a darker gray interior with the original four-color PlayStation logo on the side. There is also a special 30th anniversary logo on the back and embossed as a fine repeating pattern on the inside of the exterior panels.
Both the digital PS5 and PS5 Pro come with matching accessories. The standard DualSense controller also features the gray color scheme, four-color PlayStation logo, and textured 30th anniversary logo. A special USB-C cable is included with the controller, which features a thick attachment point that resembles the old PlayStation controller cable. The stand is also color-coordinated.
PlayStation 5 Digital Limited Edition Bundle
Sony is also including rubber cable ties in the shape of the PlayStation icons, a PlayStation sticker, a PlayStation paperclip, and a limited edition PlayStation poster in one of 30 possible designs. Since both consoles are digital, they also include a color-matched plaque for the optional disc drive, should you choose to purchase one.
Finally, the PlayStation Portal gets the same makeover, complete with new colors and logos.
Bundle accessories
All devices come in special packaging with a similar design to the original PlayStation.
Sony is selling the consoles in bundles. The PS5 Pro bundle includes the console with a matching DualSense and DualSense Pro controller, a DualSense Charging Station, and the aforementioned accessories. It will be available in a limited run of 12,300 units, with each unit having its number printed on the side.
PlayStation Portal
The PS5 bundle includes the digital version of the console, along with a matching DualSense controller and the aforementioned accessories.
The PlayStation Portal Limited Edition is sold separately. You can also buy the Limited Edition version of the DualSense Edge, which also comes with a matching case, and the standard DualSense.
DualSense Edge
The only thing missing from this celebration is the optical drive version of the PS5. If you need the disc drive, you’ll have to buy it separately, as both consoles are digital-only.
The limited edition products will be available for pre-order on direct.playstation.com and participating retailers beginning September 26, with the exception of the PS5 Digital Base Edition, which will be available at participating retailers beginning October 10. All will go on sale on November 21. Pricing has not yet been announced.
