Google’s Satellite SOS feature is now rolling out to the Pixel 9 series. This was announced when the phones were unveiled. It’s currently only available in the US and will be free for the first two years. It’s unclear how much the service will cost after that.
To use Satellite SOS, Google Messages will need to be the default messaging app on your Pixel 9. Once you get the notification that the service is live, head to Settings > Safety & emergency > Satellite SOS for more information and a demo of how it works.

Before you contact emergency services using Satellite SOS, you’ll need to answer a few questions about your emergency to ensure you get the best help for your specific situation. Please note that when your phone uses Satellite SOS, it shares your name, email address, phone number, location, device information, and emergency contact information with emergency services and satellite service providers. Google has partnered with Skylo for the backend, while Garmin handles emergency response.
