A few months ago, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Book5 Pro 360now it follows up with the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro. Like its 360 sibling, this one is powered by a Intel Lunar Lake processor with an NPU that can process 47 TOPS.
This allows not one but two AI platforms to run on the laptop: Samsung’s own Galaxy AI features are present, as is Microsoft’s Copilot+. This is the first device in the family to feature the ‘AI Select’ feature powered by Galaxy AI.

AI Select is similar to Circle to Search: you can circle an image or a piece of text to start a new search. This feature can also be used to OCR and copy text from images or scan a QR code. Note that this uses Samsung technology instead of Google (as on Galaxy phones).
All this can be achieved with the touchscreen – the Galaxy Book5 Pro is available in 14″ and 16″ sizes. In both cases it is a Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with Vision Booster and an anti-reflective coating.
The NPU is also used for other tasks: for example, Photo Remaster can upscale old photos. There is also a real-time interpreter function Note Assist.
The laptop supports Microsoft’s Phone Link, the generic way to connect to an Android phone. Galaxy device owners can use the tailor-made features such as Multi Control (use the keyboard and mouse to control phones and tablets), Second Screen (use a tablet as a second monitor) and Quick Share (easily move files, photos and documents between Galaxy devices).
The Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro has a large battery that lasts up to 25 hours. If you spend that time watching video, you’ll enjoy the sound of four speakers with Dolby Atmos support.
Samsung has improved the webcam with Staggered HDR, which combines multiple different exposures into one image with a lot of dynamic range. This is a common feature on smartphones, but you rarely see it on a webcam.
Connectivity options include two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one HDMI 2.1, one USB-A, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microSD reader.
The Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro will launch in South Korea on January 2 (no word on price yet). If you sign up now to be notified of the launch, you will receive a discount coupon that can be used between January 2 and March 31. The laptop will be available in Gray and Silver.
