On Monday Samsung has started rolling out the update to One UI 6.1.1 to the Galaxy S23 family in Europe, USA and other markets. Today the company announced the rollout of the Galaxy S23 UltraThe reason is a bug that causes ghosting in photos taken at zoom levels between 16x and 19.9x. The issue doesn’t affect other phones, so only the rollout for the S23 Ultra was halted.

The company is currently working on resolving the issue. Once that is done, they will re-release the update with the issue resolved. It is unclear how long this will take, but hopefully it will not take more than a few days, a week at most.

Samsung does this, but if you have an S23 Ultra and are experiencing the aforementioned issue, you can temporarily work around this by heading into the camera app’s settings, tapping on Intelligent Optimization, and switching to the Medium quality setting, as shown in the screenshots above.

As you might guess, this will degrade image quality somewhat, so if you never go into the 16x to 19.9x zoom range, it’s recommended to leave it at Maximum. You can also use Samsung’s Expert RAW camera app, which isn’t affected by the bug.
