Rumor has it now that Samsung will save some money on the displays for the upcoming one Galaxy S25 seriesexpected to arrive in January with three members: the S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra. To save this money, the company will reportedly use M13 organic materials for their displays.

Google’s Pixel 9 Pro and the Apple iPhone 16 Pro already use panels with M14 materials, and they are also made by Samsung Display. But Samsung Electronics will reportedly opt for the older and cheaper option, to make some extra cash – rest assured the savings won’t be passed on to buyers.

If you’ve been wondering what M14 materials have to offer compared to M13, it’s apparently 20-30% higher efficiency and 10-20% longer life. If we just compare numbers, there also seems to be a slightly higher peak brightness. This rumor started in Korea, but has also been confirmed by Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants, a generally reliable source of supply chain-related information for smartphones.

All this said, keep in mind that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will undoubtedly continue to use the Gorilla Glass Armor introduced by its predecessor, which significantly reduces the screen’s reflectivity. This means that less brightness lasts longer, because reflections do not have to be combatted.
