Samsung used to release “s” versions of some of its mid-rangers, with improved specs compared to the “vanilla”, non-“s” models. The company hasn’t done that in a while, but it’s apparently ready to get back in the game.
A Galaxy M55s could be coming soon, going by the Wi-Fi Alliance certification of a Samsung smartphone with model number SM-M558B.
For reference, the Milky Way M55‘s model number is SM-M556B. The higher number strongly implies that this will be an “s” version, but unfortunately no other details are known yet – other than the fact that it will support dual-band Wi-Fi.
For reference, the Galaxy M55 comes with a 6.7-inch 1080×2400 Super AMOLED+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,000nit peak brightness, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 SoC, 8/12GB of RAM, 128/256GB of expandable storage, a triple camera system on the rear (50MP main camera with OIS, 8MP ultra-wide camera, 2MP macro camera), a 50MP selfie camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with support for 45W wired charging.
If history does indeed repeat itself, the M55s should be a little more expensive in at least one respect. What that is, we’ll let you know when we find out.
