Samsung reportedly started work on the Galaxy A56 months ago, but it’s only now that we’re getting the first evidence of the matter via an entry in an IMEI database. The Galaxy A56 appears with the model number SM-A566B/DS. For reference, an A55 variant had the model number SM-A556B/DS , so all is clear there.
Interestingly, Samsung’s Exynos 1580 chipset, which is expected to headline the Galaxy A56 when it launches, will bring a significant performance improvement over its predecessor.
In reality, according to a Geekbench run Starting in July, the Exynos 1580 will be on par with flagship 2021 chipsets like the Snapdragon 888 in terms of performance. For a mid-range SoC, that’s pretty impressive. And it has a chance to finally stop the best-selling A-series device from being undermined by its performance.
Please note that the Milky Way A55 was officially announced in March, so a successor may still be a while away.
