Pre-orders for Samsung’s 6th generation foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold6 and the From Flip6started on July 10 in USA and now, a week later, they are already proving to be the most popular generation yet.
Pre-orders for the two models are up 40% compared to their predecessors. There’s still a week of pre-orders left before open sales begin, and we’ll likely have to wait for the quarterly report to get more detailed numbers on Z-series sales. Of course, it depends on how the Z phones do in other regions, but they should help Samsung’s modest goal of 10% higher turnover.
The Z Fold6 starts at ₹165,000 (12/256GB) while the Z Flip6 starts at ₹110,000 (12/256GB). Both launch on July 26. If you pre-order one, you can get ₹8,000 cashback on HDFC Bank cards or an ₹8,000 upgrade bonus (this goes up to ₹15,000 for current Samsung flagship owners).
The Z foldables aren’t cheap, but they’re built to last – Samsung promises 7 years of software support. Plus, if you pre-order, you’ll get Galaxy Z Assurance, which offers two screen/part replacements for just ₹1,000 (normally you get one screen replacement).
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 devices sold in USA are locally built at Samsung’s manufacturing facility in Noida.
“We are delighted with the consumer response to our new foldable smartphones – Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 in USA. The 1.4x growth in pre-orders for the new foldable smartphones demonstrates that Indian consumers are among the fastest adopters of new technology. Our new foldable smartphones, now in their sixth generation, open the next chapter of Galaxy A and take the user experience to new heights, enabling a range of unique mobile experiences across communication, productivity and creativity. The success of Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 will help us consolidate our leadership in the premium segment in USA,” said Raju Pullan, Senior Vice President, MX Business, Samsung USA.
