Japanese provider SoftBank quietly unveiled a new Motorola flip foldable, the Moto Razr 50s. However, this seems to be just a local variant of the regular Razr50 which has been around since June. The launch in Japan is scheduled for September 27 (this coming Friday).
The phone has a 6.9-inch inner display (1,080 x 2,640px) and a 3.6-inch cover display (a nearly square 1,056 x 1,066px), both of which are OLED panels. The device has an IPX8 water-resistance rating.
Like its global sibling, the Razr 50s is powered by the Dimension 7300X with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The device runs Android 14 out of the box.
There are three cameras on board: a 50MP main camera and a 13MP ultra-wide camera on the rear, plus a 32MP selfie camera in the display.
The 4,200mAh battery can be charged in just under an hour via USB-C (58 minutes), and wireless charging is also supported (Qi). Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6 (ax, 2.4/5/6GHz), Bluetooth 5.4 (with aptX-HD, LDAC, LHDC, LC3). This is a 5G phone, with single SIM and eSIM support, and data speeds are up to 2.1Gbps down and 113Mbps up. 1seg is not supported.
