With a thickness of 9.2-9.3 mm and a weight of 226-230 g (depending on the color), the Honor Magic V3 is one of the thinnest and lightest horizontal foldables on the market. All this without compromising on battery life (it has a 5,100 mAh battery) and charging (66 W wired and 50 W wireless). If you’re curious about what’s inside, check out WekiHome’s disassembly video.
Most things inside the phone are as thin as Honor can make them. The wireless charging coil, for example, is just 0.25mm thick (including the heat dissipation foil on top). The internals of the device are a mix of metal and plastic to balance strength and weight.
The camera module bucks the trend and the periscope module is thicker than the one in the Huawei Mate X5. That said, the camera bump is not included in the thickness of the phone (no manufacturer includes it).
The battery is split into two cells: one 3,130mAh and one 2,020mAh, both of which are impressively thin at 2.8mm and 2.4mm. Both use Honor’s own E1 chip that handles charging and protection duties.
The Honor Magic V3 will be launched tomorrow, July 19, in China and is “available soon” to the United Kingdom.
