The latest advertisement in the #BestPhonesForever series is out now, and Google is trolling Apple again. Or rather, a Pixel is trolling an iPhone. They’re #BestPhonesForever, and Google is using this format to mock Apple’s mobile devices in a variety of ways.
This time it’s about RCS. The messaging standard has finally been adopted by Apple with the release of iOS 18 earlier this week, after years of pressure from Google. Now, iPhones and Android devices can finally share high-quality images and videos with each other via text message.
This is of course especially relevant in the US, where people consider texting their primary means of communication, shunning WhatsApp, Telegram and Facebook Messenger for complicated reasons that stem from the bundling of text messages into phone plans, which happened in the US much earlier than in most other parts of the world.
But, we digress. The video, like all the others in this series, tries very hard to be funny, and whether or not it succeeds probably depends on where you sit on the iOS vs. Android divide. For us, there are layers of cringe here, but some people will find that amusing.
