The Pixel 9 family launched a few weeks ago with Android 14 on board, so you may have been wondering what Google’s plans are to Android 15According to a new rumor today, the company won’t roll out Android 15 to its Pixels until October, perhaps sometime in the middle of that month.

That’s despite the fact that Google will reportedly release the source code for Android 15 next week. Traditionally, the day the source code drop has also been the day the rollout for Pixels begins, but that’s changed recently, with the Pixel team frequently withholding updates until they’re fully ready.

Google rolls out Android 15 to Pixels in October

This gives it more time to wrap up the marketing for Pixel Drops, test changes, and fix last-minute bugs. Last year, the Pixel release was also delayed compared to its original timeline, and it looks like it’s going to happen again, for the same reason.

The same source claims that the Android 15 update for pixels is being held back in order to improve stability. Hopefully there’s enough time between now and mid-October to make that happen.
