At the next hardware launch event on August 13Google will the Pixel9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XLAnd Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Details about the first three of these are leaked earlier todayand so now it’s time to turn our attention to Google’s second foldable smartphone.

According to a new rumor that allegedly comes from “a source within Google”, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will have a different aspect ratio compared to his predecessorwith a higher, narrower cover screen and an almost square folding screen.

Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold's screens have different aspect ratios than the original Fold

As you can see in the image above, the new model will reportedly sport an 8-inch 2,152×2,076 120Hz internal display with a peak HDR brightness of 1,600 nits, while the external display will have a 6.24-inch 1,080×2,424 display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak HDR brightness of 1,800 nits.

That makes both of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s displays bigger and brighter than the original Pixel Fold. And while the aspect ratio has changed, it appears the inner display is still slightly wider than it is tall, meaning apps may still automatically launch in landscape mode when you unfold this device, just like their predecessor.

Like the other Pixel 9s, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is expected to get Google’s new Tensor G4 SoC and will undoubtedly be packed with AI.
