Founded by Jack MallersStrike aims to make Bitcoin accessible through its mobile app, which uses the Lightning Network. With the launch in the UK, Strike is now available in 100 countries worldwide.
Jack Mallers said they are committed to growing Bitcoin adoption and offering their services globally, despite the complexity of the regulations. “Our work is far from done,” he added.
To use Strike in the UK, users must pass a Bitcoin “appropriateness assessment,” which is required by local regulations. The app also includes the usual risk warnings.
Strike offers UK customers a variety of features, including buying Bitcoin via direct bank transfers, setting up recurring purchases, and self-managed withdrawals.
The app also uses Lightning Network to enable instant, unlimited and free payments worldwide between Strike users, thus providing a smooth transnational money transfer experience.
While Strike said some companies have left the UK market, the expansion reflects a belief in Bitcoin’s potential. The UK offers opportunities as the world’s 6th largest economy.
Strike continues to work to make Bitcoin accessible to everyday users and businesses worldwide. While region-specific regulations pose hurdles, the company strives to meet the demands while delivering important functionality.
