A week ago, Apple found itself in a tough spot with it iPhone 16 series And Apple Watch 10 series forbidden from sale in Indonesia. The problem was a direct result of unmet investment commitments in the country, which require companies to provide 40% local content to operate locally.
In a new development, Bloomberg News reports that Apple will invest $10 million in a new factory in Bandung. The investment will reportedly be made in partnership with Apple’s local supplier, Yageo Corporation, with the new facility focused on building accessories and components for Apple devices.
According to the new report, Apple has submitted its proposal to the Indonesian Ministry of Industry and is awaiting approval of the device ban. Apple isn’t the only tech company in trouble in Indonesia, as Google was too forbidden of its sale Pixel 9 series for not adhering to the 40% local content rule.
